The Kenyi is another staple in the African Cichlid Hobby due to it’s two attractive color patterns. All juvenile fish start out in an attractive blue with black vertical stripes color. Males turn yellow when they become sexually mature usually around 2.5-3″ and females stay blue. These Cichlids are on the aggressive side and should be kept in an aquarium with other Mbuna, practicing techniques to decrease aggression and with a backup plan in place if things do not work out. Having many hides and rock structure, along with overcrowding are two practices to help reduce aggression.
